A "how to" guide on hiring a public relations, advertising or digital media agency

We've just completed the www.equivio.com U.S. PR match, www.kenesinternational.com U.K. match, and are in the middle stages of a PR agency search for www.alvarion.com in one of their newer markets.

The Internet search engine start-up Meaningo was represented by a digital PR agency for its launch at TechCrunch last month.

Our agency search services are free. Transparency: Agency-Select is paid a commission by the PR firm that wins the account.

We're about to start a PR match for another Israeli company -- a mobile client -- that's going to launch in Cameroon. We're waiting to hear back on whether another Israeli company is going to start their match in Kenya.

We turned down a request for a PR match from two start-ups because they're not ready. I encouraged them to DIY -- do it yourself -- and offered to help them to get closer to their goal with some "tips 'n' tricks".

We walk our clients through every step in choosing a PR firm. We protect each cliewnt so that they don't make any mistakes, so that they ask the right questions, and importantly, receive the services for which they are paying.

Here's a small sampling of some of the questions we've been asked: How do I know when it's the right time to hire a PR firm? Do I start PR before my launch, after my beta, when? How much does it cost? Where/which coast? Europe? Eastern Europe? How much time does a PR firm need to launch my company? What are the costs involved? Can I perform a project? How do I win an award? My competitor was in the New York Times so what do I do to get in there too? The Wall St. Journal? Do I go to all of the same trade shows as the other Israeli companies, or should we do something different and strike out on our own? How do I analyze a PR proposal? What services can I expect and what else should I be asking for?

When you're ready, let us be your "how to guide." We welcome your call to walk you through the entire process of how to hire a PR agency -- and we'll let you know if you should put on the brakes and save your budget until the timing is right.
